インドのiPhone工場で暴動、窓ガラスが粉砕され車が横転する事態に

台湾を本拠とするiPhone製造メーカー・ウィストロンのインド工場で暴動が発生し、労働者が工場の窓ガラスや組み立てユニットを破壊し、車両に火を付けようとしたことが報じられています。地元メディアによると、労働者は最大で4カ月間の給料が未払いであり、追加のシフトを強いられていたとのこと。

暴動は2020年12月12日に、インド南部にあるベンガルール近郊のナルサプラにあるiPhone工場で起こりました。

実際の映像がこれ。以下はまだ暴動が始まったばかりの映像だとみられ、夜勤を終えた労働者によって工場玄関の家具がひっくり返され、窓が殴られてはいるものの、破壊まで至っていません。

しかし、その後、窓ガラスは粉砕され、車も殴打されています。

地元当局によると、2020年12月13日時点で暴動は鎮圧されており、約100人が逮捕されたとのこと。

また暴動の原因について情報筋はタイムズ・オブ・インディアに対し、工場従業員が入社時に約束された給与を受け取っていないことを述べました。従業員の一人は「工学部の卒業生は月に2万1000ルピー(約3万円)を受け取るはずでしたが、それが1万6000ルピー(約2万3000円)に減り、ここ数カ月では1万2000ルピーにまで減少しました」と語っており、中には500ルピー(約700円)しか受け取っていない人もいたそうです。工場では約1万5000人が働いていますが、大部分は人材派遣会社を通じて契約しており、「『残忍な搾取』があった」と地元の労働組合は述べています

なお、台湾のウィストロンは「この事件は外部から侵入した身元不明者によって起こされ、理由は不明ですが施設が損害を受けました」「現地の労働法および関連法律に従い、できる限り迅速にオペレーションを再開します」と声明を発表しています。
