Review that touched 'Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition R5 Platinum' equipped with Ryzen R7 5800 H

The Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition R5 Platinum

, which is the first AMD CPU-equipped PC in about 14 years as a gaming PC brand ALIENWARE, has finally been released, so I wondered if it would be useful not only for games but also for business purposes. Saw.

The outer box looks like this.

I arranged the main body, AC adapter, and explanatory documents that were included.

The main body dimensions are width 356.2 mm, depth 272.5 mm, thickness 22.85 mm. The screen size is 15.6 inches, and the Let's note SV series (12.1 inches), which is a general business notebook PC, fits perfectly.

When I try to measure the weight of the main body, I just can't see the numerical part ...

When I shifted it, it was 2.5 kg. This model is equipped with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 because it ranges from 2.42 kg to 2.69 kg depending on customization.

The 240W AC adapter weighs 731g.

The power cable that connects to the AC adapter weighs 182g.

Since the power plug is a 3-pin type, a conversion plug to 2-pin is attached. 29g. Carrying a set weighs about 3.4 kg.

Alien mark on the upper center of the top surface. The letter '15' is in the lower right corner.

The left side of the screen is a 2.5Gbps RJ-45 Ethernet port in the center. Right next to it is a headset / microphone jack.

On the right side of the screen, there are also two SuperSpeed USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, also near the center.

On the back side, from the left, SuperSpeed USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, SuperSpeed USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, HDMI 2.1 output, power input and input / output terminals are lined up.

There is a hexagonal intake / exhaust slit on the bottom. Also, instead of the four corners, there are two long rubber feet along the long sides.

When you open the top plate, it looks like this.

Built-in camera at the top of the bezel.

The key layout is like this, the lower left is the Ctrl key. One feature is that the Windows key is not only to the left of the left Alt key, but also to the right of the Katakana / Hiragana / Romaji keys. Also, the right Ctrl key is larger, instead the right Shift key is the same size as a regular key. The biggest feature is that although there is no numeric keypad, the microphone on / off switching key, mute key, and volume adjustment key are arranged independently at the right end.

A keyboard with keys that emerge with lights.

When you turn off the lights in the room, it looks like this.

It looks like this when compared in a bright place and a dark place.

The alien mark on the back and the bottom also shine.

By default, the keyboard settles in blue, but the alien mark that doubles as the power button glows in seven colors.

This light is set to 'lit (bright)' by default in the environmental management software ' ALIENWARE COMMAND CENTER ', but it can also be turned 'lit (dark)' or 'off'. The following are the ones I changed in order, and you can see the difference in the lighting condition at each setting stage.

In addition, the way it shines can be set in various ways. It glows according to the game and makes you feel excited.

The CPU is the Ryzen R7 5800H, which claims to be the 'fastest core in the world for PC gamers,' and the GPU is the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 series , which is strong in gaming graphics. Then, I tried various benchmarks to see what it was like.

First of all, Geekbench 5 .

The CPU benchmark score is '1498' for single core and '8034' for multi-core.

The details of the score are '3656' for single-core encryption processing, '1265' for integer arithmetic, and '1643' for floating-point arithmetic.

The multi-core encryption process was '5214', the integer operation was '7814', and the floating point operation was '8980'.

There are two types of GPU processing power benchmarks, '

OpenCL ' and ' CUDA'. The OpenCL score is '33327'.

The CUDA score was '38845'.

Next is the benchmark with

'PassMark PerformanceTest'.

The rating is '3926' and the percentile (where it is located in the overall benchmark score) is 53%.

The CPU score is '23608', which is 92% of the percentile. It is digging into a considerable upper rank.

The 2D graphics score is '353'. Surprisingly, the percentile is 34%, which is a little lower.

The 3D graphics score is '6196' and the percentile is 44%.

The memory score is '2982'. The percentile is 70%.

The disc score is '27231'. The percentile is overwhelming at 95%.

Comparing this with the baseline of the past, it seems that the CF-SV8 is superior, but it does not reach the VAIO Z and Surface Laptop 4.

The CPU score is slightly higher than the Surface Laptop 4 with the same Ryzen.

However, 2D graphics are a bit tough.

3D graphics is the top among these four models.

It seems that the memory is divided into '16GB' group and '32GB' group depending on the installed capacity.

The disc looked like this.

The fan operation can be changed with the thermal profile of 'ALIENWARE COMMAND CENTER'. You can see how much the sound changes when you change from 'maximum speed' with 100% fan speed to 'balance' that balances temperature and fan speed in the following movie.

Also, I tried to visualize how strong the wind is at the maximum speed by applying a piece of tissue paper around the heat exhaust slit. We have started 'Super Bomberman R Online ' to make the fans the fastest.

I also checked the temperature with 'FLIR ONE Pro ', which allows you to use an infrared camera just by attaching it to your smartphone.

The bottom of the screen is over 50 degrees because hot air is blowing out. However, there are black and cold spots on the left and right of the top of the keyboard.

This is just a place with fans. It is inhaling with a tremendous force. The temperature is about 30 degrees.

Hot air of about 40 degrees is emitted to the side.

From the heat exhaust slit on the back side, it can be seen that heat of 50 degrees or more is emitted inside.

The temperature of the bottom is higher near the back side.

The AC adapter was also warmed to about 40 degrees.

Although it has machine power, it has a considerable total weight, so it is not suitable for carrying around too often. Also, the gameplay is crisp, but if you focus on exhaust heat, the fan sound is quite good, so basically it seems that you will play with headphones or earphones.

Also, since the microphone on / off and volume control keys are lined up on the right side of the Enter key, you may be a little worried when typing until you get used to it to some extent. However, once you get used to it, it is convenient that the volume control is not pressed at the same time as the function keys but is separated independently, and it may come in handy in cases such as online meetings and live distribution where key operations cannot fail.

The price of the 'Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition R5 Platinum' series will fluctuate depending on customization, but the model with RTX3060 that I touched here is 283,980 yen (tax included, shipping fee included), the model with large capacity memory & SSD & RTX3070 is The price is 369,981 yen (tax included and shipping fee included), and the model equipped with RTX3050i is 264,980 yen (tax included and shipping fee included).
