I tried connecting Sony's gaming monitor 'INZONE M9', which is fully compatible with PlayStation 5 and can play 4K / 120 fps games perfectly, to PlayStation 5 Review

The

INZONE M9 gaming monitor with 4K resolution and maximum refresh rate of 144Hz from Sony's first gaming device brand ' INZONE ' has earned the title of 'Perfect for PlayStation 5' and is compatible with Sony's home video game console PlayStation5. When connected to (PS5), you can use various linked functions such as automatic HDR optimization. So, I tried to see what it would be like to actually connect the INZONE M9 to the PlayStation 5.

The feeling of use after connecting to a PC has been reviewed in the following article.

I tried connecting Sony's first gaming monitor ``INZONE M9'' that realized a bright and beautiful screen with ``direct type LED partial drive'' to a PC - GIGAZINE

So I tried connecting with PS5. When connected, the adjustment screen of the display area was displayed.

Then, the HDR adjustment will start, but the message ``The setting items that will be displayed from now on are already optimized for your TV.Please adjust only if you need to change them'' was displayed. At the time of connecting with INZONE M9, HDR adjustment on the PS5 side is completed.

After adjusting HDR, access 'Screen and Video' from PS5 settings.

Check 'Video output information' from 'Screen output'.

The resolution is 3840 x 2160 pixels and the frame rate is 60Hz. The color format is RGB and HDCP is 2.3. Looking at the settings of the connected HDMI device, the VRR (variable refresh rate) is 48-120Hz.

When I returned to the menu screen and opened the INZONE M9 menu, the image quality mode was the preset 'Game 1'.

I played '

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War ' as a game that can be played at 4K / 120fps. When I turned on the frame rate counter of INZONE M9, '120Hz' is displayed in the upper left.

The image quality remains 'Game 1'.

Of course PS5 games are not always 120Hz. If the game frame rate is 60 fps '

Demon's Soul ', the frame rate counter is '60 Hz'.

The INZONE M9 has a high contrast ratio of 80,000:1, and the direct-type partial LED drive makes the dark areas appear darker, so it's perfect for games like 'Demon's Souls' where light and shade create the atmosphere of the game. It can be said that

In 'Fort Knight', the frame rate counter is '120Hz'.

INZONE M9 has very beautiful coloring, so the vivid colors of 'Fort Knight' can be expressed firmly.

Now I put the Blu-ray disc into my PS5 and watched movies and anime.

For video works, the frame rate counter is set to '24Hz'. Also, the image quality is automatically switched to 'Cinema'.

Even animation is 24Hz, and the image quality is 'Cinema'.

This time I tried connecting Microsoft's

Xbox Series X instead of PS5. For Xbox Series X, HDR is not automatically adjusted, so calibrate manually.

I tried playing '

Gears 5 ' at 4K / 60fps.

Looking at the frame rate counter, it was '60Hz'. The image quality mode was 'Cinema', and unlike PS5, it did not switch automatically.

Even in Microsoft's official demo application '

Insects: Xbox One X Enhanced Experience ', the image quality mode is cinema. HDR is enabled.

So was '

DIRT 5 '. I felt that the performance of the INZONE M9 was greatly demonstrated in the DIRT 5, which is realistic and the course appearance changes greatly depending on the weather, because the color development and contrast are effective.

INZONE M9 is optimized for PS5 by default, and it supports VRR with HDMI 2.1, so it is a big point that you can use it without troublesome settings. It's a genuine Sony gaming monitor, so if you're looking for a monitor that officially supports PS5's 4K/120Hz and VRR, it's reassuring that the INZONE M9 is OK. The design is the same black and white two-tone color as the PS5, so it can be said that it can be used as a PS5 dedicated gaming monitor.

INZONE M9 is handled by Amazon.co.jp and can be purchased for 154,000 yen including tax.
