We measured how long the 'VAIO SX14-R' can run on battery power alone
We measured the mobile performance of the VAIO SX14-R , which VAIO released as its 'top-of-the-line mobile PC,' in particular how long the battery lasts when you're carrying it around and how much heat it generates when in use.
VAIO announces the lightweight 'VAIO SX14-R / Pro PK-R' weighing less than 1 kg as its top-of-the-line mobile PC
The appearance of the 'VAIO SX14-R' is summarized in the following article.

The benchmark results are summarized in the following article.
First, we measured the battery life in multiple patterns. The room temperature during the measurement was about 25 degrees, the screen brightness was maximum, and the volume was set to 10. The default settings for Windows were used, and the power saving function was turned on when the battery level reached 30%. The battery level was obtained every 5 minutes.
Below are three types from the left: 'When playing Genshin normally,' 'When starting Genshin and leaving it alone,' and 'When watching videos on YouTube.' As a result, when playing the game, the battery life dropped to 10% in 1 hour and 45 minutes, but when leaving the game alone, it dropped to 2.5% in 2 hours and 20 minutes, and when watching YouTube, it dropped to 0% in 6 hours and 30 minutes.
The graph below shows the results of charging under the same conditions. Although the charging mode was turned off, charging from 99% to 100% takes a considerable amount of time, so the measurements were taken at 99% charging. On the left is 'when watching videos on YouTube', which took 1 hour and 55 minutes to charge from 0% to 99%, in the center is 'when Genshin Impact was launched and left alone', which took 2 hours and 35 minutes to charge from 2.5% to 99%, and on the right is 'when playing Genshin Impact normally', which took 3 hours and 5 minutes to charge from 8.9% to 99%.
When using the PC, the fan noise is not much different from that of a room air conditioner, even when the PC is under heavy load due to running benchmark software. When measured using the digital sound level meter ' GM1351 ,' the noise level was about 40 dBA, which is classified as a 'quiet environment' when sitting and working on the PC.
We also used the thermal camera '
The exhaust vent on the left side of the unit blew out hot air at about 50 degrees.
There is no heat dissipation to the rear side.
When I lifted the unit and looked at the bottom, the left side of the bottom was over 30 degrees.
The temperature of the desk on which the PC was placed was about 30 degrees.
The AC adapter was just under 35 degrees. There was no heat that was noticeable during use other than at the exhaust port.
I've been using it for about a week, and compared to the powerful capabilities packed inside, the weight of the main unit is less than 1kg, which is fair to say it's 'light,' and the weight balance of the main unit is also good, so I felt it was a device that was suitable for carrying around. As for the battery life, it's difficult to continue doing heavy tasks, but I get the impression that with such a long battery life, it's possible to cover it to some extent by carrying a mobile battery. And considering that the PC configuration I borrowed this time was well under 300,000 yen, I can conclude that there's nothing to complain about.
The configuration used this time was changed from the default to Windows 11 Pro (+8,000 yen), and the price was 259,800 yen including tax. The processor can be changed to Core Ultra 7-155H, the memory can be changed to 64GB/32GB/16GB, and the storage can be changed to 2TB/1TB/512GB of the fourth generation high-speed SSD.
