We measured the battery life and heat generation of the AI PC 'Acer Swift X 14' for creators

The Acer Swift X 14, an AI PC for creators from Acer, is a pretty powerful device equipped with a 14.5-inch OLED display, Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop. We actually measured how much power it can maintain when running on battery power and how much heat it generates.

The battery life was measured by running Genshin Impact and leaving it alone as a constant heavy load, and by watching YouTube in a web browser as a light load. In both cases, the screen brightness was set to maximum and the volume to 10. The Windows 'Power and Battery' settings were set to 'Optimal Performance' so that the screen and power would not turn off even if no operations were performed. Below is the Genshin Impact gameplay screen assuming a heavy load. Amber was left on top of the Tower of the Order of Favonius in Mondstadt for a long time.

The results are as follows. The vertical axis of the graph shows the remaining battery power, and the horizontal axis shows the elapsed time. The red line shows the heavy load, and the blue line shows the light load. In both cases, the battery power was measured from 100%. In the heavy load case, the battery power dropped to 2.9% in 55 minutes and the device automatically went into sleep mode. In the light load case, the battery power dropped to 3.2% in 245 minutes (4 hours and 5 minutes).

On the other hand, the time it takes for the battery to recover to 100% when charging under the same load is as follows. Similarly, the vertical axis shows the remaining battery level, and the horizontal axis shows the elapsed time, with the red graph showing the heavy load and the blue line showing the light load. The light load started with a battery level of 2.3% and recovered to 100% in 100 minutes (1 hour and 40 minutes). The heavy load started with a battery level of 2.4% and recovered to 100% in 183 minutes. The charging speed did not slow down even after exceeding 90%, and rather it seemed to complete charging all at once from the last 2-3%.

Next, we used

the FLIR ONE Pro to check how much heat was being generated during operation and in which direction the heat was being released. When we ran the FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION benchmark , which is a stressful operation, the hottest part seen from the front was the top of the keyboard, at about 44 degrees.

When I got closer to the keyboard, the temperature had risen, reaching over 50 degrees. In fact, when I put my hand over the function keys, they were quite hot, and I could tell they were working at full power. If you just press the keys, they don't feel hot, but if you keep your hand on the top row of keys, you can feel the heat.

The temperature at the exhaust vent on the left side of the rear side was over 50 degrees. This is where hot air comes out toward the rear, so you don't want to put your hands over it. If you put a drink on it, it will definitely get warm.

We turned the device over to see what the bottom looked like, and sure enough, the temperature around the exhaust vent on the right rear of the device was particularly high.

Looking inside, we saw a temperature of 60 degrees. Although hot air at 60 degrees doesn't actually blow out of the device, the exhaust port faces downwards, so you should avoid placing it on your lap when performing heavy processing.

The AC adapter is also over 40 degrees, so you can clearly feel the heat when you put your hand over it. Even though it's only 40 degrees, it's so hot that if you accidentally touch it, you'll be in a panic, so be sure to place it in a safe place.
