Since the launch of Alexa in 2014, Amazon has been continuously improving the service with the aim of making conversations with Alexa as natural as talking to other people. At a press conference held in September 2023, Amazon announced that it would introduce generative AI to Alexa.

It has since been reported that Amazon plans to release an upgraded Alexa using generative AI in a subscription format.

The upgraded Alexa will be called ' Remarkable Alexa ' and is expected to cost between $5 (about 720 yen) and $10 (about 1,400 yen) per month. A source said of Remarkable Alexa, 'In the final version, you won't need to call out 'Alexa' multiple times, and it may be possible to provide a more personalized service.'

It has been reported that development of Remarkable Alexa has been delayed due to conflicts between employees during development and the fact that the company is facing new competition from rival AI voice assistants such as Apple's Siri. It has now been reported that development of Remarkable Alexa is finally moving forward with a release date of October 2024.

According to the Washington Post, customers will need to sign up for a paid subscription to access Remarkable Alexa, and the new service is expected to include features such as AI-generated news summaries, shopping advice for customers, and a 'safe and moderated' chatbot for children.
