Remarkable Alexa is expected to include features such as AI-generated news summaries, shopping advice for customers, a 'safe and moderated' chatbot for kids, and the ability to carry out more complex requests like ordering food or drafting emails from a single prompt.
According to Reuters, Amazon was planning to develop its own AI model for Remarkable Alexa, but the initial version had difficulty responding quickly, taking up to 6-7 seconds to confirm the prompt and respond. Amazon, which had difficulty developing it, is expected to eventually introduce Anthropic's chat AI, Claude, which in tests performed better than Amazon's own AI model.
An Amazon spokesperson said, 'Amazon uses a variety of technologies to power Alexa. While we develop our own machine learning models, we also use and will continue to use a variety of models, including Amazon Titan and future Amazon-specific AI models, as well as AI models from companies with whom we have partnership agreements, to provide the best experience for customers.'
In addition, Amazon has announced that it will invest up to $4 billion (about 580 billion yen) in Anthropic in September 2023.
