I compared how much "ScanSnap S1100" is small compared to past models

"ScanSnap S1100" to be released on Saturday, November 20th will be the world's smallest scanner as an A4 sheet feed type scanner. It is a very compact and lightweight scanner with an external dimension of 273 mm (width) × 47.5 mm (depth) × 34 mm (height), weight of 350 g, but how small is it compared with the past ScanSnap?

This time I compared the size of the previous models of the ScanSnap series, "S300" and "S1500" side by side.

Pictures actually compared, etc. from the following.FUJITSU: S1100 Product Information

S300 product information

This is three models to compare this time. It is S1500, S300 from the back, S1100 which is released this time, and "mountain of mushroom".

Viewed from the side. Similarly from the left mountain of mushrooms, S1100, S300, S1500.

This machine to be compared, S300. This is an entry model, automatic paper feed method (ADF), simultaneous reading on both sides. The optical system is a Selfoc lens equal-magnification optical system, and the image sensor is a color CIS. The reading speed is 8 sheets per minute (A4, duplex reading, when the AC adapter is used, color 150 dpi, black and white 300 dpi equivalent).

External dimensions are 284 mm (width) x 95 mm (depth) x 77 mm (height).

Although it is a small impression as a scanner, both depth and height are more than twice S1100.

Another comparison target machine, S1500. High performance machine for business use, automatic paper feed method (ADF), simultaneous reading on both sides. The optical system is an aspherical lens reduction optical system, and the image sensor is a color CCD. The reading speed is 20 sheets per minute (A4, duplex reading, when using the AC adapter, color / gray 150 dpi, black and white equivalent to 300 dpi).

S1500 Front view. The external dimension is 292 mm (width) x 159 mm (depth) x 158 mm (height).

Just as high-performance machines for business use, the size is getting bigger.

And this time S1100. Manual insertion (CDF), single side reading, 2 way paper path. The optical system is a Selfoc lens equal-magnification optical system, and the image sensor is a color CIS. The reading speed is 8 pages per minute (A4, color / gray 150 dpi, black and white equivalent to 300 dpi) at each side.

Difference in the depth of S300 and S1100. The width of S300 is just about the same as the size at S1100 reading standby.

By the way, the width of S300 is almost the same as the mountain of mushroom.

Then, S1500 is about the same as the width of S300 and S1100.

Compared with S300, the height of S1100 is about half.

S1500 has a lot of height as well. It is about the same as the mountain of a mushroom.

Let's also weigh the weight. S1500 has exceeded the limit of the weighing machine, 2 kg.Manufacturer siteAccording to, it seems to be about 3 kg.

S300 cuts half that 1235g.

It is 340 g of S1100 which is nearly a quarter of it. You can see that it is considerably lighter than past machines.

All models opened. The difference in size appears more extreme.

Good news for those who had carried S300 or S300, the successor model of S300. Until now it is so heavy that even people who did not bring a scanner to go out will be able to use it and the scenes that are used seem to spread widely.

Although it is an actual operation that comes to mind when it comes to this, I compared this with the past model as well. Is it compact, does it affect the operation?

I tried using "ScanSnap S1100" really useful compared with past models - GIGAZINE
