iOSアプリをWindowsに簡単に移植できる「Windows Bridge for iOS」

Microsoftのイベント・Build 2015でデモンストレーション実演が行われたWindows 10へiOS向けのアプリを簡単に移植できる「Project Islandwood」こと「Windows Bridge for iOS」の初期バージョンがリリースされました。

「Windows Bridge for iOS」(WinObjC)はMicrosoftによるオープンソースプロジェクト。Visual StudioでiOSアプリの開発言語であるObjective-Cをサポートするものです。

なお、「iOS向けアプリがWindowsで動く」というのも1つの成果ですが、iOSアプリ開発者が既存のコードや知識をできるだけ活用して素晴らしいWindowsアプリケーションを開発してくれることを目標としているとのこと。

WinObjCを使うために必要なのはWindows 10とVisual Studio 2015。

ちなみに、Build 2015で同じく発表された「Windows Bridge for web apps」(Project Westminster)の動作環境もWindows 10＋Visual Studio 2015となっています。

AndroidアプリをWindows向けに簡単に移植できる「Windows Bridge for Android」(Project Astoria)もありますが、現時点では招待ユーザーのみが利用できるテクニカルプレビュー版だとのこと。毎週、複数の開発者が招待されていて、秋ごろにベータ版のリリースが予定されています。
