Walking in front of Apple headquarters was Craig Federighi, Senior Vice President of Software Engineering. He began his customary talk by saying, 'We went on a long journey to come up with the code name for macOS.'

An animated film about a van with wings that goes on a journey.

With a hippie-esque narration, we arrived at the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.

While Federighi was saying, 'The team isn't coming back, so this might be the last time we codename macOS,' the van that had gone on a trip returned. A hippie inside interrupted Federighi and named it 'Golden Gate!' And so, it was announced that macOS 27 would be called 'Golden Gate.'

macOS 27 adjusts the transparency of Liquid Glass to improve the visibility of various buttons and labels.

Additionally, the email search function has been significantly improved, allowing you to quickly find the files you need.

A standalone Siri app is also available. You can refer to your conversation history with Siri later. Conversations from other devices, such as iPhones, are also synchronized.

Siri now integrates with Apple Intelligence , allowing it to refer to files stored on your Mac and answer your questions.

It anticipates the content of the text you're about to enter, based on the content of your messaging app or email, and presents a draft when you focus on the input field.

Furthermore, it also features image recognition capabilities that allow you to instantly ask Siri questions or perform web searches about what's displayed on the screen.

macOS 27 will begin beta testing for developers on June 9, 2026 (Japan time), with the official release scheduled for autumn 2026.
