Bluesky's new AI tool 'Attie' has blocked over 130,000 accounts, making it the second highest number of blocked accounts after US Vice President Vance.

Bluesky's AI agent app 'Attie' has been met with disapproval from its general users, and it has been reported that the official account has been blocked by over 130,000 users within days of its announcement. This number of blocks is the second highest after US Vice President J.D. Vance, and by far the highest on a 24-hour basis.

Bluesky announced Attie, an agent-based social app and custom feed builder that runs on the decentralized AT protocol, on March 30, 2026. Attie allows users to simply explain 'what kind of posts they want to see' in a conversational format, and an AI agent will automatically build a feed that meets the user's requests.

However, according to ClearSky , which collects data on Bluesky, it has been found that at the time of writing, more than 134,000 users had already blocked Attie's Bluesky account. The most blocked account is Vice President Vance's account, which has been blocked by more than 180,000 people.

In the past 24 hours, Attie has blocked over 118,000 accounts, making it by far the top platform.

Bluesky has garnered attention as an alternative social networking service to X, which advocates using user data for AI learning . For this reason, the IT news site TechCrunch analyzed the reason why Attie is unpopular with Bluesky users, stating, 'Bluesky, which has more than 43 million accounts at the time of writing, has grown as an alternative to X, led by Elon Musk. For many Bluesky users, Bluesky has functioned as a temporary refuge from AI search, AI chatbots, and AI-generated videos, so the launch of Attie may have felt like a betrayal.'
Furthermore, Bluesky still lacks basic features that many users have requested, such as the ability to send images via direct message, leading to criticism that the product development priorities are misplaced.

Jay Graeber, co-founder and Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) of Bluesky, responded to the growing opinion that 'it's a shame that AI-powered features are being made public in Bluesky' by stating, 'We use AI in the development of Bluesky. People who aren't engineers are also participating in the development using Claude Code,' thus confirming that generative AI has been used in the development of Bluesky all along.

Furthermore, Graeber has stated that a Large-Scale Language Model (LLM) is also used for moderation in Bluesky.
we've used LLMs in moderation for years
