Chilled noodles that you can enjoy a full-fledged udon at high speed without waiting for 3 minutes 'Nissin Gonbuto Tempura Udon / Kitsune Udon' Tasting Review

Nissin Foods has been offering 'Nissin Gonbuto', a cup-type raw udon noodle for over 20 years since 1993, as chilled cup noodles, ' Nissin Gonbuto Tempura Udon ' and ' Nissin Gonbuto Kitsune Udon ', which were revived on Sunday, September 1, 2024. I actually made and ate it because it can be eaten immediately by just pouring hot water.

Two products in the 'Nissin Gonbuto' series (released September 1st) | Nissin Foods Group

First, I will try 'Nissin Gonbuto Tempura Udon'.

The ingredients look like this.

Calories per serving is 373kcal.

The cooking method is to 'loosen the noodles in boiling water,' 'close the lid and drain the water,' 'add the powdered soup and liquid broth, pour in boiling water, place the tempura on top and it's done,' so there's no need to 'pour in the boiling water and then wait a few minutes' like with instant noodles.

Inside is a bag of udon noodles, powdered soup, liquid soup, and tempura on top.

First, place the udon in a bowl, pour in boiling water and stir well to loosen it.

Next, raise the prongs on the drain hole on the transparent lid.

Drain the hot water used to loosen the udon.

Next, add the powdered soup and liquid soup that come with it.

Pour boiling water up to the inside line.

Once you place the tempura on top, it's done. There's no need to wait after pouring in the boiling water, so you can eat it right away.

The soup is flavored with bonito and kelp stock, giving it a strong umami and salty taste.

As the name 'Gonbuto' suggests, the noodles are quite thick. They have a firm texture and a smooth texture, making it hard to believe they were simply loosened by pouring hot water over them. As the tempura dissolves in the soup, the savory flavor of shrimp is added, making the dish even more delicious.

Next, I will try 'Nissin Gonbuto Kitsune Udon'.

The ingredients look like this.

The calorie content is 336kcal per serving.

The bowl contains packeted udon noodles, powdered soup, liquid soup, and fluffy fried tofu.

The method of preparation is the same as for tempura udon; first pour boiling water over the udon in a bowl to loosen it.

After draining the water, add the powdered soup and liquid soup.

Then, place the plump fried tofu on top and pour in boiling water up to the inside line.

'Tempura Udon' is topped with tempura, but the fluffy fried tofu of 'Kitsune Udon' needs to be placed on top and rehydrated before pouring in the hot water, so you need to wait one minute after pouring in the hot water.

The broth is the same as that of the 'Tempura Udon,' made with bonito and kelp stock, but because it is topped with fried tofu, it has a slightly sweeter taste.

The thick noodles have a firm texture and a smooth feel.

The fried tofu soaked in sauce has a fluffy texture and the sweetness seeps out when you chew it.

The great thing about 'Nissin Gonbuto Tempura Udon' and 'Nissin Gonbuto Kitsune Udon' is that you can cook them just by pouring hot water. You don't have to wait 3 minutes after pouring hot water or boil the noodles in a pot, just pour hot water, loosen them, and drain them, so anyone can cook them quickly and easily. They can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 20 days, so if you stock up on them, you can quickly prepare them when you're feeling unwell or extremely tired and don't have the energy to prepare a meal.

'Nissin Gonbuto Tempura Udon' and 'Nissin Gonbuto Kitsune Udon' will be available for purchase in the Tohoku, Kanto, Chubu and Kinki regions from Sunday, September 1, 2024. The suggested retail price per meal per pack is 400 yen (excluding tax).
