Amazon One examines both the palm and the underlying vein structure to create a unique numeric vector representation called a palm signature to verify identity. Amazon One's recognition accuracy is said to be 99.9999%.

Until now, it was only possible to register palm information using a special machine at the store. However, from now on, it will be possible to register from a smartphone. To register, launch the Amazon One app on your smartphone and log in to your Amazon account.

By registering the captured data and linking it to your account, you can use it to pay at physical stores. According to Amazon, the system compares the palm and vein data scanned with the Amazon One terminal in the store with the palm image taken with a smartphone.

Palm images taken with the Amazon One app are encrypted and sent to a secure Amazon One domain in the AWS cloud. In order to protect privacy and maintain data security, it seems that images taken and uploaded cannot be downloaded or saved on mobile phones.

In the United States, Amazon One has already been adopted as a payment system at supermarkets across the country , and it can also be used for age verification using government-issued IDs , so it is unlikely that it will be possible to register using a smartphone. This leads to improved convenience.

At the time of article creation, Amazon One is only available in the United States.
