It is reported that when you bought a new iPhone 15 Pro Max from the Apple official store, you received a 'fake iPhone' with Android inside.
It's common to hear people say that
I got a fake iPhone 15 Pro Max from Apple
According to Reddit user theEdmard who posted this incident, the iPhone in question was ordered directly from Apple's official website in the UK. Immediately after making the purchase, I received a confirmation email from Apple, as well as a notification from the delivery company, Dynamic Parcel Distribution (DPD), regarding tracking my package.
In this way, the iPhone arrived at theEdmard's hand.
But things went well so far. The outer box certainly looked like it was a genuine product, but for some reason it was torn and looked like it had already been opened.
And a protective film that was not for iPhone 15 Pro Max was attached to the main screen. At this point, theEdmard begins to suspect, 'Maybe someone returned the iPhone?'
When theEdmard turns on the power, he notices more strange things. The display does not look like an organic EL display, and there is a thick lower bezel at the bottom of the screen that is called a 'chin' among overseas smartphone users, so it is clearly not a genuine iPhone 15 Pro Max. There was no.
Also, although the OS is made to look like iOS at first glance, it is actually Android, and Android-specific toast notifications were displayed many times during setup. Apps such as Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok were already installed, and the OS was full of glitches, and the camera app seemed to crash when I tapped a button on the screen.
When I checked the usage history of the battery, it was clearly recorded that someone had used it before.
theEdmard, who deduced why this item arrived, initially thought, ``Maybe DPD changed the contents during delivery?'' However, the shipping box was sealed properly, and there was no sign that anyone had opened it. Because there is no such thing, it is difficult to believe that DPD did it. Also, since Apple's tracking is valid at all stages of delivery and the tracking number on the box matches, it is unlikely that there was a problem with Apple's delivery process.
TheEdmard's biggest concern regarding this incident is that there are many similar devices on the market, and that people may be logging in with their Apple IDs, Facebook accounts, etc. without realizing that they are not genuine devices. That's the point. If you enter these account IDs and passwords on a fake iPhone, you never know where your data will be sent.
theEdmard has already contacted Apple support and will update the post as soon as he hears anything. theEdmard said, ``To put it simply, I ordered a new device directly from Apple and received an Android device in the shape of an iPhone. This is a scam to steal data. Please be careful when purchasing a new smartphone.'
