Sony's large active speaker 'SRS-XV800' photo review that can be carried outdoors with Bluetooth connection & built-in battery

From Sony, a large active speaker ' SRS-XV800 ' that can be connected to Bluetooth, has a built-in battery, and has a drip-proof performance equivalent to IPX4 (when placed vertically) and is supposed to be carried outdoors and used May 2023. Appeared on the 19th. Since I had the opportunity to actually touch the SRS-XV800, I took a lot of pictures while looking at its appearance.

Wrapped in a huge box, SRS-XV800 arrived at GIGAZINE editorial department.

An instruction manual, a start guide, a warranty card, an optical digital cable, and a power cable with a glasses-type connector were enclosed.

This is the SRS-XV800 body. The body is matte black plastic with metal speaker grills.

The size is 317 mm wide x 720 mm high x 375 mm deep. It is just about the waist height of a male editorial staff with a height of 164 cm.

The top part looks like this.

The power button at the bottom center of the operation panel is a physical button, and the rest is a touch panel type.

Sony's logo on the front side. It has a handle so that you can easily grab it.

There is a back handle on the back side, and two tweeters are installed at both ends.

Looking closer to the tweeter, it looks like this. Diameter is about 40mm.

There is a speaker grill on the front, behind which there are two large-diameter woofers 'X-Balanced Speaker Unit' of about 170 x 170 mm and three tweeters with a diameter of about 60 mm.

The back looks like this.

Something like a panel can be opened with a finger.

This panel has a BATTERY button, KEY CONTROL button, ECHO button, GUITAR button, USB-A port for USB connection, AC (power input) terminal, 3.5mm AUDIO IN terminal, OPTICAL IN (optical digital audio input) terminal, There is a 6.3mm MIC1 terminal and level adjustment knob, and a 6.3mm MIC2/GUITAR terminal and level adjustment knob.

On the left side facing the front, there is a protrusion (red frame part) that becomes a rubber foot for horizontal placement.

There was no protrusion on the right side.

The bottom looks like this. The front side (right side of the image) has a handle so that it can be used as a handle when lifting and carrying.

It has two tires on the back side.

The SRS-XV800 weighs about 18.5kg. It is quite heavy for one adult to hold and carry, but thanks to this tire, it can be carried like a carry bag.

The SRS-XV800 is an active speaker with a built-in amplifier that amplifies audio signals. In addition to being able to connect to devices such as smartphones via Bluetooth, it can also be used as an amplifier by connecting a microphone. Next time, I'm planning to write an article about how the sound actually sounds, so please look forward to it.

The SRS-XV800 is handled by Amazon.co.jp and can be purchased for 72,000 yen including tax at the time of article creation.
