The '400-BTTWS7' is an open-ear Bluetooth earphone that allows you to freely adjust the position of the hooks and speakers, and eliminates any worries about sound leakage.

The '400-BTTWS7' package looks like this.

The contents include the '400-BTTWS7' charging case and main unit, a warning notice, an instruction manual, and a USB Type-C charging cable.

The charging case for the '400-BTTWS7' has a flat, oval shape, measuring 10.3cm wide x 5.5cm long x 2.6cm high. This is what it looks like in the palm of your hand.

The charging case has a USB Type-C port on the back for charging.

The front features a groove for opening the device and four LED indicators to show the charge level.

Upon opening the charging case, I found the '400-BTTWS7' earbuds inside. The continuous talk time is approximately 6 hours at 50% volume, and the continuous music playback time is approximately 8 hours at 50% volume. Both the charging case and the earbuds take approximately 2 hours to charge.

The dimensions of the earphones are as follows: 5.3 cm vertically (from the top to the bottom of the ear hook), 3.8 cm horizontally (from the edge of the microphone and speaker section to the bulging part of the hook), and 1.4 cm thick.

The actual weight of the earphones is 18g for both ears combined.

The total weight, including the case, was 74g.

The '400-BTTWS7' is not an in-ear canal type that goes into the ear canal, but rather an open-ear type that hooks onto the ear and rests the speaker part against the ear canal. The speaker part looks like this.

The hook is made of a resilient material and has a firm feel.

The hook itself can rotate up to 90 degrees horizontally (45 degrees to the left and 45 degrees to the right), allowing it to be adjusted to fit the shape of the head and ears.

The speaker unit can also be rotated up and down, allowing you to position it to suit your needs.

To pair the '400-BTTWS7' with your device, place the earbuds back into the charging case and then open it again. The earbuds will then power on and automatically enter pairing mode.

Open the Bluetooth settings screen on the device you want to connect and tap '400-BTTWS7'.

I have now successfully paired the '400-BTTWS7' with my device.

This is what it looks like when worn. The '400-BTTWS7' is an open-ear type earphone where the speaker part rests against the ear canal, so it avoids blocking out ambient sounds. If you're used to canal-type earphones and aren't accustomed to the 'simply hook it onto your ear' wearing method, you might worry that it will fall out if you move around a lot, but it didn't fall out even when I walked around or turned my head while wearing it. However, if you move your head vigorously, the speaker position may shift away from the ear canal, so it might be better to take the earphones off before doing strenuous exercise such as running.

When I actually listened to music with the '400-BTTWS7,' I initially felt a sense of discomfort due to the lack of a snug fit in my ear canal and the way the sound resonated, especially since I usually use in-ear headphones. However, I quickly got used to it after listening for a while. There were no problems with the bass or treble response. Unlike in-ear headphones, the ear canal isn't blocked, so ambient sounds are clearly audible, which is a great advantage as it eliminates any anxiety when walking outside while listening to music.

The '400-BTTWS7' can be operated by tapping or long-pressing the touch sensors on the speaker. To increase the volume, tap the sensor on the right ear once; to decrease the volume, tap the sensor on the left ear once; to play/pause music, tap either the left or right sensor twice; to skip to the next track, tap the right ear three times; and to go back to the previous track, tap the left ear three times.

Open-ear earphones have a reputation for leaking sound more easily than in-ear earphones. However, even when wearing the '400-BTTWS7' and listening to music at a fairly high volume while sitting next to another editor on a crowded train, they couldn't even tell that I was listening to music. I tried shifting the speaker position so that the sound hit the outer ear instead of the ear canal, but even then, it was only a faint 'something is playing' sound, far from being a bothersome sound leak, so there seems to be no need to worry about sound leakage.

The '400-BTTWS7' is priced at 6,619 yen (excluding tax) and is available for purchase at online retailers such as Sanwa Direct and Amazon.co.jp at the time of writing.
