Photo review of 'Powerbeats Pro 2', the wireless earphones that pursue perfect comfort from Apple's Beats

The audio equipment brand '

Beats by Dr. Dre ' has released ' Powerbeats Pro 2 ' equipped with active noise canceling and heart rate monitoring functions. The Powerbeats Pro 2 has been thoroughly tested for over 1,500 hours on about 1,000 athletes to achieve a perfect fit, so I was curious about what kind of design it had, so I actually took a lot of photos.

The packaging for the Powerbeats Pro 2 looks like this. The device is available in four colors: Jet Black, Quicksand, Hyper Purple, and Electric Orange. I chose the Electric Orange.

When you open the lid, you'll find an orange charging case inside.

Under the charging case were various documents such as an instruction manual and a quick start guide, as well as ear tips in four different sizes.

The charging case looks like this, with dimensions of 7.5cm high x 6.6cm long x 3.4cm wide, and weighing 69g.

There is nothing on the bottom.

There's a USB-C port on the back for charging. The charging case can be charged with a cable, but it's the first Beats by Dr. Dre charging case to support wireless charging.

When I opened the lid, the earphone body (earbud) was stored like this.

There is a pairing button on the front of the charging case.

Here's what the earbuds look like on their own. The size of the earbuds is 4.5cm high x 4.1cm long x 2.4cm wide, and the total weight of the two is 8.7g.

The ear hooks that go over the ears are made from an ultra-lightweight nickel-titanium alloy, known for its excellent shape memory and flexibility in material design.

The black area right next to the ear tips houses the heart rate monitoring sensor, which measures blood flow by pulsing the LED optical sensor over 100 times per second.

The earbuds are marked with an 'L' or 'R' to indicate whether they are for the right or left ear.

The silver component next to the 'R' is a terminal for attaching the earbuds to the charging case and powering them.

This is what it looks like with the ear tips removed. Removing them is very easy.

The Beats by Dr. Dre logo on the earbuds is a button that plays or stops media when pressed once, moves to the next song when pressed twice, and moves to the previous song when pressed three times. You can also switch between active noise canceling, external sound capture mode, and off (disable each mode) by pressing and holding the button on the logo for two seconds.

The long, thin button on the side is the volume control.

In addition, Powerbeats Pro 2 is also sold on Amazon.co.jp, and can be purchased for 36,182 yen including tax, which is cheaper than the official store.
