Sony's home theater system 'HT-A9' photo review that allows you to easily enjoy stereophonic sound

Sony introduced the home theater system 'HT-A9 ' on August 7, 2021, which allows you to experience stereophonic sound with '360 Spatial Sound Mapping' using four speakers. I had the opportunity to actually touch the HT-A9, so I first opened it and checked the appearance.

◆ Opening
The outer box of HT-A9 looks like this. This time, it was shipped with a slip attached to the outer box.

It weighs about 14.5 kg and can be carried by one person.

Open the lid to take out the contents.

After removing the cardboard, the control box appeared.

At the bottom of the box are four speakers.

Inside the box is a box containing 4 speakers, a control box, and accessories.

The accessories are the power cord for the speaker, the AC adapter & power cord for the control box, the remote control, the HDMI cable (4K & 8K transmission compatible), the cable used when using the TV as the center speaker, and the instruction manual in order from the upper left.

◆ Check the appearance of the speaker
The size of the speaker is 160mm in width x 313mm in height x 147mm in depth.

The top surface looks like this. The speaker is equipped with three units, 'full range', 'tweeter', and 'upward speaker', and each unit size is 70mm x 82mm for the full range, 19mm for the tweeter, and 46mm x 54mm for the upward speaker.

The Sony logo is placed on the right side when viewed from the front.

There is no logo on the left side.

A cover is attached to the center of the back.

If you remove the cover with a safety pin or clip ...

There were holes for hanging on the wall and mounting holes for the speaker stand.

On the bottom, there is a power cable outlet, a LINK button, a power button, and the serial number and model number are also listed. In addition, the part of the red frame is marked with a symbol indicating which of the four speakers is which.

It weighs about 2.7 kg.

The appearance and unit size of the four speakers are all the same. You can check which of the 'front speaker left (FL)', 'front speaker right (FR)', 'rear speaker left (RL)', and 'rear speaker right (RR)' is on the bottom of each speaker.

◆ Check the appearance of the control box
A sticker that emphasizes '360 Spatial Sound Mapping' and 'high resolution compatible' is affixed to the control box. It seems that these stickers cannot be reattached once they are peeled off, so this time I will use them without peeling them off.

There is a slit for exhaust on the right side.

There is also a slit on the left side.

There is no slit on the front.

The back is equipped with a USB terminal, S-center output terminal, LAN terminal, HDMI output terminal, HDMI input terminal, and DC input terminal used when updating the power button and control box.

Four rubber pads are mounted on the bottom, and the model number and serial number are also written.

The control box weighed 723g.

◆ Check the appearance of the remote control
In addition to the power button, volume control button, and playback control button, the HT-A9 remote control has a night mode button and cinema button. A mode switching button such as a music button is also installed.

The remote control runs on two AAA batteries.
