I tried using Roland's compact high-performance recorder "R-09"

Since Roland was able to borrow the compact high-performance WAVE / MP3 recorder "R - 09" which can be recorded with high sound quality exceeding the CD, which Roland is issuing, I tried using it variously. Recording settings can be made quite fine, so you can record outdoor live and use it for various purposes, such as recording a conversation in a conference room.

I will take a closer look at the main body. On the side, there are hold switch, volume, headphone jack in order from the left.


On the other side, there are a power switch and recording level adjustment (INPUT LEVEL) in order from the left.

At the top center is a microphone input terminal and a line input terminal. Stereo microphone is equipped on the left and right.


There are four switches on the back.


"AGC" in the upper left is AUTO GAIN CONTROL, and turn on if you want to record distant voices and nearby voices at the same volume. "EXT MIC TYPE" in the upper right can select the type of the external microphone type switch and the type of microphone connected to the microphone terminal. "LOW CUT" in the lower left cuts the bass area and cuts the noise when it is turned on. Finally, "MIC GAIN" in the lower right toggles the input sensitivity of the microphone.

I installed a silicon case. Since the case is thinner in the operation part, you can operate it by pushing even from above the case.

Although you can connect the AC adapter, you can not open only the bottom cover, so you can not change the SD card or battery replacement by removing the case.


Press and hold the "MENU" button on the main unit to enter the setting screen.

The area around the "REC" button glows red during recording.

I tried to record in several places, such as inside the office or in the town, but by setting the recording level etc. properly it can record quite firmly. If it is another recorder, there are times when it is difficult for people to hear the voice of a distant person such as the voice of a conference, but this sounds clear to some extent as it seems that the person is sitting. Since you can hear the sound of turning over the document, it may be good to turn on LOW CUT at that time. If it is recorded in the town, it usually becomes severe noise covered, but it is truly possible to record while suppressing noise firmly.

Actually, I tried recording the traffic sound of a car passing through an intersection with the highest sound quality setting of R-09. Since it is synthesized with the movie of the movie taken at the same time with the digital camera, I think that you can see well that the sound moves right and left stereo properly. When the motorcycle runs, the sound approaches properly, and you can grasp information such as where the car comes from and which way you are going to be quite accurate. The size of the equipment is about the same as iPod mini, not so large, the weight is also lighter than it looks. I think that R-09 is the strongest if it is not a situation where it is unavoidable that it must be a compact recorder.
