Review what the battery will look like if you attach a solar panel that can be charged with sunlight to Amazon's security camera with LED light 'Spotlight Cam Plus'

The Spotlight Cam Plus , a security camera equipped with an LED light that appeared from Amazon, can be used while charging by attaching a solar panel (sold separately). The camera body is a battery type, so you have to worry about running out of battery, but attaching a solar panel will reduce the burden considerably. When I actually installed it, I was able to confirm that the battery recovered quickly.

This is the solar panel package.

Inside was the solar panel body, mounting base, cables, screws, and setup guide.

The size of the solar panel is 20.5 cm long, 16.9 cm wide and 1.2 cm thick.

The cord extends from the back side.

The mounting table looks like this.

The neck part can be rotated 180 degrees laterally and forwards and backwards.

The total weight of the solar panel and mounting base was 482g.

We will actually install the solar panel, this time we are

attaching the Spotlight Cam Plus to the mounting plate , so we decided to attach the solar panel to the same plate. First, fix the mounting base with the attached screws in a position that does not interfere with the camera body.

After fixing, attach the back of the solar panel to the mounting base.

When the two were brought into contact and slid, a click sound was heard and it was fixed.

The cord extending from the solar panel is wrapped around the mounting base and put together.

Then insert the tip of the code into Spotlight Cam Plus.

Adjust the angle.

After completing the adjustment, tighten the screw at the neck of the mounting base to fix the direction of the solar panel.

Here's what it looks like when attached to the pillar.

Although it is surrounded by a roof, the sunlight hits the part of the solar panel firmly.

So, let's measure how long the battery will last with this setup. The start was at 15:36 on March 24 (Friday), and the Spotlight Cam Plus battery was fully charged and installed.

There were three main settings that could affect the battery of Spotlight Cam Plus: 'sensitivity of motion detection', 'frequency of snapshots', and 'lighting', but I tried all of them with the defaults. The weather was cloudy when the measurement started, and I felt a little damp due to the rain that had fallen the night before.

When I checked the battery level from the app 5 days after the measurement, it was 89%. On the 24th, 25th, and 26th, it was cloudy and rainy for three days, so I thought it couldn't be helped, but I was a little uneasy about the 11% decrease in just five days.

However, when I checked the next day, it had recovered to 99%.

During this period, the Spotlight Cam Plus left a few seconds of recordings when motion was detected and was set to turn on additional lights at night. When I checked the recording, I left a total of 44 recordings from the 24th to the 30th, so it seems that motion was detected about 6 times a day.

The weather during the measurement period was like this. 24th to 26th cloudy or rainy, 27th to 29th and 30th not listed here sunny.

If you don't look at the live camera regularly, you can say that you don't need to worry about running out of battery just by attaching the solar panel. Spotlight Cam Plus is a security device that keeps records when necessary, illuminates the surroundings with lights at night, and can respond to sudden visitors when going out with two-way communication, like a drive recorder. I got the impression that it is playing the role it should be.

Spotlight Cam Plus is available at Amazon.co.jp. The set with the solar panel used this time is sold at 28,790 yen including tax.
