'Rufus' usage review that can format USB memory etc. from Windows 10 to FAT32 / NTFS / exFAT / ReFS / ext2 / ext3 for free

When formatting 32GB or more of disk space with the standard function of Windows 10, you cannot select FAT32 format. With the open source format software ' Rufus ', it is possible to format USB memory etc. in FAT32 / NTFS / exFAT / ReFS / ext2 / ext3 format for free, so I actually tried using it.

Rufus-Easily create a bootable USB drive

First, access the official page. Rufus officially supports Japanese, and all explanations are in Japanese.

Rufus itself can be downloaded from the link under 'Download'. This time, I have downloaded 'Rufus 3.14' which was the latest version at the time of writing the article.

Start the downloaded 'rufus-3.14.exe' by double-clicking.

The first time you launch it, you will be asked if you want to enable the automatic update feature for online updates. Select 'No' this time.

After selecting, Rufus will start automatically. Below is the Rufus home screen.

Actually, try formatting the USB memory.

In the 'Device' item of 'Drive Properties', check that the D drive is recognized by the inserted USB memory.

Select 'For non-boot' for 'Boot type'. Alternatively, you can create a boot drive using a Windows 10 ISO file

downloaded from Microsoft.

Select 'GPT' for 'Partition configuration'. GPT is ' GUID partition table that of', 'in addition to the master boot record (MBR)' and ' super disk (Super Floppy Disk)' You can choose.

You don't have to change the format option part.

There are 6 types of file systems that can be selected for non-boot: FAT32, NTFS, UDF, exFAT, ext2, and ext3.

After setting the above items, execute with 'Start'.

When you click 'Start', a confirmation that all the data in the specified device will be deleted is displayed as shown below, so select 'OK'.

During execution, the current progress is displayed in 'Status' at the bottom of the window.

If you look at the properties, you can see that it is formatted in FAT32 format like this.

Rufus is open source software, the

source of which is available on Github. According to the official page, it operates at an overwhelming speed compared toMicrosoft's 'Windows USB / DVD Download Tool'.
