The design of the box looks something like this. This time, I was able to borrow the product which is an optional set of radio control type "Skycontroller Black Edition" (hereafter Sky Controller), so the package is big.


In the box, it seems that Bebop 2 and Sky Controller, Sky Controller and two battery packs that are used alternatively, a charger, a replacement propeller, etc. are contained.


So I immediately took out the Bebop 2 and the Sky Controller. Both are in black color tones, but the body color of Bebop 2 has a lineup of different colors in which the white part was red.


I ordered Bebop 2 and the accessories. In addition to the main body, there are four sets of one set of charger and charging cable, USB cable, a tool for removing the propeller and a spare propeller that can replace the plug part.


Bebop 2 has a white body line and a propeller accents for the design. The main body size is compact with width 382 × length 328 × height 89 mm.

The lens of the camera came out. This camera is a fisheye lens with a field angle of 180 degrees with a sensor of 14 million pixels and it is possible to shoot all the front of the aircraft. And the flight images captured with this camera are live streaming delivered to smartphones and tablets, making it possible to flight while watching actual images. Also, the images captured by the fisheye lens are digitally processed, and it is said that it is possible to see natural and stable full HD images without distortion on the screen. Of course, still images can be taken.


The side view is a very simple design. In the center of the fuselage, a heavy battery is installed.

At the rear end of the body there is a white power button and a Micro - USB terminal that are larger than the original one and seem to be easy to operate. Like a square window above it is a lock lever to operate when removing the battery. In addition, with a powerful LED power switch doubles as a rear light to inform the position of the aircraft.


Looking at the bottom, you can see a vertical stabilized camera that measures the speed of the aircraft by shooting images of the ground at about 60 frames / second / 16 milliseconds and comparing it with the previous image, and a vertical stabilized camera You can see an ultrasonic sensor for measuring flight altitude in conjunction with a small fan for cooling. Although it is not visible here, Bebop 2 has built-in 3-axis gyroscope, 3 axis accelerometer, 3 axis magnetometer, GNSS chipset that measures its own position with artificial satellites.


Although it is a little hard to see, like the predecessor, the main body of the aircraft is structured to be mounted on a frame connected to the propeller via white rubber, and it is designed to shut out the vibration.

The propeller is fixed with three screws. However, there is no need to tighten the screws, covering the propeller from above, holding the screw with the attached special tool and turning the propeller and mounting it is possible.


When I tried the weight of the aircraft, I found that it was 1 gram lighter than 499 grams. By the way, the weight of the battery alone is 195 grams, the weight of the main body is 304 grams.


And this is accessory related to sky controller. Strap and battery hanging from the neck, dock adapter for 7 inch tablet, sunshade cover (large / small) to block sunlight are set.


The Sky Controller is a device equipped with two sticks and various buttons, which enables physical operation. Although the operation is inconspicuous only with the screen such as smartphone, the power of the physical controller which can operate while feeling the feedback of the fingertip is still enormous.


The stick on the left side, by default, operates the up / down of the aircraft and the left and right turning (yawing). The part to be hit by the index finger and the button under the stick are the buttons used when wearing FVP goggles. The button with the red circle under it is a button to shoot movie.


There is an indicator that shows the recording state and an indicator that indicates the strength of the radio wave of Wi-Fi used for communication with the airframe in four levels on the left arm part.


The right side stick controls forward / backward / left / right inclination of the fuselage, and forward / backward movement and left / right movement. The switch at the position of the forefinger is for taking pictures and operating the camera angle. The switch under the stick is a take-off / landing button and a button to return to the departure point with one push.


In the right arm part, the sky controller and the indicator showing the remaining battery level of Bebop 2 are arranged.


The back side looks like this. The top part is equipped with a large antenna for Wi-Fi connection with Bebop 2, and it is possible to navigate from a location 2 km away.


The battery is connected in this way. Because it is the same type as Bebop 2, it is convenient not to need to separately prepare a spare with the controller and Bebop 2.


The antenna is integrated with the mount that fixes the smartphone / tablet, and the height can be adjusted by loosening the screw like this.


It is possible to mount the tablet up to the size of the iPad Air like this. It supports tablets as well as smartphones.


In addition, the Sky Controller with the tablet weighs more than 2 kg, so it is tough to keep operating with holding it with your hand. Therefore, manufacturers recommend using the included strap.


When attaching "folding shade" that can be attached when using a tablet, it looks like this. It is divided into a base part (for lower part) and an extended part (for upper part) to be attached to the main body, and it can be used properly according to the situation. What is like a black plate in front is an auxiliary mount for installing a 7 inch size tablet.


With such a feeling, it is designed to be able to shut out the glare of the surroundings, so it is now possible to ensure visibility during the day when the sun is out.
