New "Opera Max" which can reduce the traffic of both mobile and Wi-Fi free of charge

Free app that cuts mobile communication of most applications put in the terminal and saves it "Opera Max - Data ManagerHowever, as there were many requests from the user "I want to save data traffic even on Wi-Fi", as another new application that increased the part that the user can control "Opera Max - Data management"Is published on Google Play. I tried actually how to use it not only for mobile communication but also for Wi-Fi to save data volume.

Opera Max - Opera Japan even on Wi-Fi

The new Opera Max can be installed from the following page.

Opera Max - Data management - Android application on Google Play
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.opera.max.global

"Opera Max - Data management" which can also be used on Wi-Fi is the same as "Opera Max - Data Manager"Since it is a different application, you need to install it anew.

Tap "Install" when opening the page.

The access conditions necessary for installing Opera Max are "terminal and application history" "image / media / file" "Wi-Fi connection information" "Bluetooth connection information" "terminal ID and call information". If it is OK tap "agree".

Launch the installed application.

The connection will be made to the Opera Max cloud at the first startup.

After that, the tutorial begins, so slide the screen and continue reading.

After reading the tutorial, tap "Agree and continue".

The top page is displayed. Since communication data has not been compressed yet, tap "Start Compression" to start connecting to Opera Max cloud.

To create a VPN connection via Opera Max, mark the checkbox and tap "OK".

Then the data compression started. Whether data can be compressed or not can be determined by the Opera Max icon on the task bar in the upper left. With this, data communication is now compressed just by using other applications.

Try Wi - Fi communication with some applications such as browsers, then try opening Opera Max again. The "Wi-Fi usage" and the "mobile communication" usage are recorded separately, this is the "Wi-Fi usage" page. The use history and communication volume of the application installed on the terminal are recorded in the timeline format, and you can see at a glance how much data each application uses. At the top of the page, the total data usage of all the applications and the amount of data that can be reduced are displayed. Trying on the app on the timeline ...

You can see details of the application alone. When browsing with Firefox of Xperia Z3 on Wi-Fi connection, I was saving about a quarter of the data. By compressing communication data at the time of Wi-Fi connection, for example, speed improvement can be expected in time zone where Wi-Fi at home is congested.

However, if communication speed slows down by compressing data, you can simply switch on / off data compression simply by sliding the upper right switch, so if you switch according to the situation, You can send a comfortable Wi-Fi life. Data compression is on if it is green.

Data compression is off if it is white.

If you tap on the menu button on the top left ......

"Mobile usage" which was also a function of "Opera Max - Data Manager", "Restriction Menu" which restricts the communication of each application at once, "Settings" that can change the compression ratio of images and movies when compressing data "Each menu opens. You can turn on / off data compression with the toggle button next to "Mobile / Wi-Fi usage". First, tap "Mobile usage".

The mobile communication data done in 3G and 4G is managed here and you can use each application while saving the limitation of monthly data usage.

Also, "restriction menu" which can restrict communication of each application is like this. You can restrict application data communication for each "mobile" "Wi-Fi" connection method. Just tap from the list on the left to select the application you want to restrict.

Restricting the Wi-Fi communication of the application may lead to battery saving.

Actually restricting Wi-Fi communication on YouTube, I started the YouTube application. Opera Max warns you and asks if you wish to continue with the restriction. If you tap "Continue restriction", the movie could not be played because communication is slow. It can be used for light applications such as Gmail. Restricting applications that communicate periodically in the background seems to save batteries.

So, I tried using Chrome · Firefox · YouTube · SmartNews while compressing data of Wi-Fi communication in Opera Max. Although YouTube was only able to reduce data by only 45 KB of 500 MB, other applications had about 15% to 30% of data reduced.

SmartNews was the application that saved the most data communication, and the amount of data communication was reduced by 32%. However, as all of the applications had been considerably slowed down, it seems better to turn off data compression, except in crowded time zones.
