Brave has announced a roadmap for BAT, including 'credit card issuance' and 'development of BravePay.'

The Brave web browser is well-known for its built-in ad blocking feature, but it also has a system in place to distribute '

Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) ' to users who optionally allow ads to be displayed. The 'BAT Roadmap 4.0,' which outlines the future development of BAT, was announced on July 9, 2026.

BAT is a system developed with the aim of benefiting both users and creators. Users can earn BAT as a reward in exchange for allowing ads to be displayed in Brave's new tabs and news feeds. BAT can be exchanged for cash through the cryptocurrency exchange bitFlyer.

The main goals of BAT Roadmap 4.0 are 'Renewal of Brave Wallet,' 'Issuance of Brave Rewards Card,' 'Support for payment protocols,' and 'Introduction of BravePay.'

The refreshed Brave Wallet interface is shown below. Brave Wallet allows you to manage credit and debit cards and view your BAT transaction history.

The Brave Rewards Card extends Brave's rewards features to real-world purchases, allowing you to earn BAT as a reward when you use it for payments. The Brave Rewards Card can also be managed through Brave Wallet.

Furthermore, the Brave Rewards Card is also planned to be issued as a physical card. Details regarding the card issuer and other information will be announced at a later date.

Brave aims to support 'x402,' a protocol that enables small-value payments using HTTP communication, and 'Machine Payments Protocol (MPP),' a payment protocol for AI agents. Furthermore, they have announced the development of 'BravePay' as a stablecoin payment system. In the long term, they also plan to provide an SDK for integrating BravePay into applications.
