Subsequently, they raised prices again just four months later, in September 2025.

Microsoft announces price increase for Xbox Series S|X; in the US, the Xbox Series X will increase in price by 22,000 yen in just six months - GIGAZINE

According to the announcement, the 512GB model will see a price increase of $100 (approximately 16,200 yen) and the 1TB model will increase to $150 (approximately 24,300 yen) in the US, while the 2TB model will be discontinued.

Regarding the third price increase in such a short period, the Xbox team explained, 'We wanted to avoid price increases beyond September 2025, and we have been discussing countermeasures with our suppliers for the past few months. Unfortunately, however, the price of storage and memory for game consoles has more than doubled, and is expected to double again by the fall of 2027. Game consoles are particularly affected as the entire consumer electronics industry is suffering from a shortage of parts. Unlike smartphones, PCs, speakers, and other consumer devices, game consoles are typically sold at a price below the manufacturing cost without any added profit.'

Furthermore, to make Xbox more affordable even with price increases, Microsoft Store will offer interest-free installment payments for up to 12 months when purchasing from the Microsoft Store. In addition, a program in cooperation with retailers to offer used products at lower prices will encourage the trade-in of used items. Certified refurbished products will be available at the Microsoft Store for up to $100 off the manufacturer's suggested retail price.
