The automakers that Qwen has announced it will integrate with include electric vehicle giants BYD, Geely , and Li Auto , as well as SAIC Volkswagen, a local joint venture between Germany's Volkswagen and China's SAIC .
The Qwen system, installed in vehicles, operates on NVIDIA's in-car chip system, designed to function even in environments with limited network connectivity. Some models will allow drivers to use voice commands to order food delivery, book hotels, purchase attraction tickets, and track packages from inside their cars.
News media outlet CNBC explains, 'This system combines on-device processing with cloud-based computing to enable interpretation of voice commands, planning of multi-step tasks, and connection to services such as payment and navigation.'

This announcement to integrate AI systems into automobiles comes as Chinese automakers are competing for customers in the slowing electric vehicle market and are trying to differentiate themselves through in-car software and services.
In addition, Audi and SAIC's local subsidiary announced at the Beijing Motor Show that the all-electric SUV 'E7X' will be equipped with Doubao, the AI assistant from TikTok's parent company ByteDance , and AI functions from voice AI company iFlyTek . Cadillac , General Motors' luxury car brand, also unveiled a new model equipped with a voice assistant function that can work in conjunction with ByteDance's Doubao.
