As of April 2026, approximately 75,000 AI-generated songs are uploaded to Deezer per day, accounting for about 44% of the total daily uploads. This translates to approximately 2 million AI-generated songs being uploaded per month.

Deezer's April 2025 announcement stated that '20,000 AI-generated songs are uploaded per day,' meaning that the number has increased approximately fourfold in just one year.

In January 2025, Deezer developed a tool to detect AI-generated music. This tool checks uploaded music and tags any AI-generated tracks, preventing them from appearing in the 'Recommended' section. As a result, AI-generated music accounts for only about 1% to 3% of the user's total listening time.

Furthermore, approximately 85% of the playback time for AI-generated music is due to fraudulent playback, resulting in the suspension of monetization. Deezer stated that 'it is clear that the primary purpose of uploading AI-generated music to streaming platforms is fraudulent activity,' and explained that the reason for not featuring AI-generated music in recommendations is 'to protect creators' earnings.'

The quality of AI-generated music is improving year by year, and a survey conducted by Deezer in December 2025 showed that only about 3% of people could distinguish between music generated by AI and music created by humans.

On the other hand, about 80% of users believe that 'AI-generated music should be clearly labeled,' and 52% believe that 'AI-generated music and human-made music should be featured on separate charts.' Deezer is licensing its AI detection technology to other platforms so that they can distinguish between AI-generated and human-made music.

Deezer CEO Alexis Lanternier said, 'We hope that the entire music industry will take action with Deezer to protect artists' rights and ensure transparency for fans.'
