Sony has officially updated the cumulative sales of the PlayStation 2 (PS2) , which was released in March 2000, to over 160 million units. The official sales figure for the PS2 was 150 million units announced in 2011, but since then, it seems that 10 million PS2s have been sold. This has made the PS2 the best-selling game console of all time.

The latest official record for PS2 sales by Sony was 150 million units, announced in 2011. Since then, production of the PS2 was discontinued in January 2013, so sales of the PS2 were expected to plateau at 150 million units .

However, former head of PlayStation Jim Ryan casually claimed during an official PlayStation podcast in early 2024 that total PS2 sales had topped 160 million units.

The cumulative sales of all PlayStation models are 65 million PS5, 117 million PS4, 87 million PS3, and 102 million original PlayStation.
