Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, announced updates to Threads. The first update is to 'extend the time limit for editing posts from 5 minutes to 15 minutes.' According to Mosseri, the update was implemented in response to user requests for 'more time to edit posts.'

Threads uses ActivityPub, an open social networking protocol developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), so it can communicate with other services that use the same protocol, such as Mastodon and WordPress. These other services are called 'Fediverse,' and users can share their Threads posts on Mastodon by turning on sharing on the Fediverse .

With the extension of the time that posts can be edited to 15 minutes, users who have Fediverse sharing turned on will be able to share their posts to other Fediverse servers only after the 15-minute editing limit has passed.

In addition, users who have enabled sharing to the Fediverse will be able to see who is following them and liking their content from other Fediverse servers. The full list will be displayed by tapping on Post Activity or Follower List.

Additionally, Threads announced that it will be adding even more features to its API : when users create a post through the API, Threads will be able to automatically share it with the broader fediverse, it will also make it easier to attach links to posts, it will introduce real-time notifications for replies, and it will allow users to add alt text to photos and videos.
