I tried using the Apple Maps app to check train delay information for Tokyo.

You can now check real-time traffic information for over 20 trains, buses, and trams in the Tokyo metropolitan area with Apple's native map app. It can be used without any updates, so I tried it out.

First, open Maps and tap the station you want to check traffic information for. In this example, I tapped Shinjuku Station.

Information about Shinjuku Station will then be displayed at the bottom of the screen. To view more information, tap the area highlighted in red.

The departure times for each line departing from Shinjuku Station are displayed in a row. For lines with delays, the delayed time is written in red.

The delay information will be updated in real time while the screen is displayed. Tap the route you want to check the details of.

Then, information on upcoming departures and stops was displayed. Information on delays to upcoming trains was also listed.

In addition, with the release of iOS 18 in the fall of 2024, information such as 'contour lines,' 'relief shading,' and 'hiking trails' will be available in Japan.
