Friend is an AI companion device worn around the neck like a necklace, and connects to a smartphone via Bluetooth. As seen in the trailer, the button in the center of the device is used for conversation, and messages from Friend are sent by text. Also, even if you don't actively seek out a conversation, Friend is always listening to what the user is saying, so it may send you messages on its own.
As the name of the device suggests, it is just a 'Friend' and is not a therapist, nor does it have any functions to help you with work.
Pre-orders will begin on July 30, 2024. It will be available for purchase for $99 in the US and 15,399 yen in Japan. Shipping is expected to begin around January 2025.
