OpenAI acquires macOS screen sharing service Multi

OpenAI just announced the acquisition of Rockset on June 21, 2024. Rockset is a service that provides an advanced real-time analytical database with world-class data indexing and query capabilities.

This is OpenAI's third corporate acquisition, including the acquisition of Global Illumination, a creative tool building company announced on August 16, 2023. Multi, which was acquired this time, is a screen sharing service for macOS, and according to a post by Multi's CEO to X, it appears that he will join the ChatGPT desktop team after the acquisition.




With the acquisition, Multi's services will end one month later on July 24, 2024, and all user data will be deleted. If you contact support, they will help you find an alternative solution or, in some cases, you may be able to extend the time.

Details of the transaction, including the acquisition price, have not been disclosed, but it was reported that the company raised $13 million (approximately 2.1 billion yen) in 2020 when it was known as Remotion, the predecessor of Multi.
