'iPhone Touch Payment' allows you to seamlessly and securely use your iPhone to accept contactless credit and debit cards (some contactless cards may not be accepted), Apple Pay, and other digital wallets. According to Apple, contactless credit and debit cards from major payment networks, including American Express, JCB, Mastercard, and Visa, are compatible with iPhone Touch Payment.

Merchants can use iPhone touch payment with compatible iOS apps, but this requires an iPhone Xs or later device and the latest version of iOS. At the checkout, customers can simply hold their contactless credit or debit card, iPhone, Apple Watch, or other digital wallet over the merchant's iPhone to make a secure payment using NFC.

'iPhone Touch Payment' can be integrated into payment platforms and developers' iOS apps, making it easy for businesses to introduce touch payments. According to Apple, the following apps are the first in Japan to support 'iPhone Touch Payment' from May 16th.

According to Apple, iPhone Touch Payment has sufficient privacy protection because customer payment information is protected by the same security technology as Apple Pay. All transactions made with iPhone Touch Payment are encrypted using the Secure Element, so Apple cannot obtain information such as purchase details or buyers, just like Apple Pay.
