The Financial Times is a major British economic newspaper that has been operating under the umbrella of the Nihon Keizai Shimbun since 2015 and handles economic information from around the world. Through the strategic partnership between the Financial Times and OpenAI, ChatGPT users will be able to view summaries, citations, and links to articles from the Financial Times in chat.

The Financial Times also announced that it will use its vast amount of information to power its generative AI models and develop new AI products for its readers.

OpenAI already has partnerships with media outlets such as The Associated Press, Axel Springer, Le Monde and Prisa Media, and the Financial Times said 'this is OpenAI's fifth deal with the Financial Times in the past year.'

'This partnership is a win-win not just for the Financial Times but for the whole industry,' said John Ridding, CEO of the Financial Times. 'It's right that AI platforms pay publishers for the use of their content. At the same time, it's in the interest of users to have trusted sources of information included in products like ChatGPT.' He pointed out that the partnership with OpenAI will benefit both users and the media industry.

The terms of the contract between OpenAI and the Financial Times and the fee for the contract have not been disclosed.
