To use Generative Erase in Microsoft Photos, go to Edit Image and select the Erase option.

Then, brush and select the object or area you want to remove. At that time, you can also adjust the brush size. In the example below, we have selected a leash connected to a dog.

By default, auto-apply is turned on, so when you select an object or area you want to delete, the AI will automatically determine the selection range and delete the object appropriately.

By moving the slide bar placed on the image below, you can compare the photos before deletion (left) and after deletion (right).

Disabling auto-apply allows you to select multiple objects at once or finely select the objects you want to delete. In the example below, multiple figures in the background are selected at once.

When you click 'Erase', the shadow reflected in the background is neatly removed.

Comparing the photos before deletion (left) and after deletion (right), it looks like this.

Generative Erase is available on Windows 11, Windows 10, and Arm64 version Windows devices equipped with Microsoft Photo version 2024.11020.21001.0 or later, but at the time of writing this article, you are required to join the Windows Insider early access program. ``This update is being rolled out to Windows Insiders across all channels starting February 22, 2024,'' said Mara Srivatsa, senior product manager at Microsoft.
