Internet Explorer 11 was completely disabled on certain versions of Windows 10 through the February 14 Microsoft Edge update. From now on, when users try to launch Internet Explorer 11, Microsoft Edge will launch instead.

Since the update program will be deployed sequentially over a few days to a week, it will be subject to those who have not been disabled yet. Traces of Internet Explorer 11, such as icons on the Start menu and taskbar, will be removed in a Windows security update scheduled for June 13, 2023.

Windows 8.1, Windows 7 Extended Security Updates, Windows 10 Chinese government edition, etc. are not covered and will continue to be supported. Microsoft Edge's Internet Explorer mode and the MSHTML (Trident) engine required for this mode to work will continue to be supported.
