A test that incorporates generative AI into Google search to display word details, color code programming codes, and summarize articles has started
Google has started testing ' Search Generative Experience (SGE)', which uses generative AI to display search results. By introducing generative AI to Google search, functions such as 'displaying details of words and related diagrams and images', 'coloring segments of programming code by element', and 'summarizing articles and listing important points' have become available. It has come true.

At the annual developer conference ' Google I/O 2023 ' held in May 2023, Google announced that it would add functions that utilize generative AI to Google Search, Google Maps, and Google Workspace. After that, on May 25, 2023, `` Search Generative Experience (SGE) '', which incorporates generative in Google search, was started to be provided to participants of the new function early experience program `` Search Labs ''.

In addition, Google announced on August 15, 2023 that it will begin testing new SGE features for Search Labs participants.
One of the new features offered this time is the ability to hover the cursor over a specific word in a Google search response to preview the word's details, definition, and associated diagrams and images.
With this function, it becomes easier to grasp the meaning and definition of difficult words such as technical terms, and learning and understanding progress. Google search by SGE will improve AI answers to questions such as science, economics and history in the future, and it is said that you will be able to get more detailed answers than ever before.
The second new feature is the ability to easily understand and debug the programming code generated by SGE. When enabled, this feature provides color-coded highlighting for segments of code, making it easier to identify elements such as keywords, comments, and strings at a glance.
Google says, 'We will continue to add new features to SGE to make it easier to understand and debug programming code, while being responsible for the code generated by SGE.'
Whether you're a new or experienced programmer, learning more about coding is probably on your running to-do list.

The third new feature added is a feature called ' SGE while browsing ' that AI generates the main points of the web page you are browsing in Chrome. The SGE while browsing function is only available in the Google Chrome app for iOS or Android at the time of article creation, and will be introduced to desktop Chrome in the future.
With SGE while browsing, a 'Get AI-powered key points' bar will appear at the bottom of the article or content you are viewing. Tap 'Generate'.
Generative AI then analyzes and summarizes the article you are reading, listing the key points in the content.
Furthermore, by tapping each point from the displayed list, it is possible to jump to and highlight the part in the content where that point was excerpted.
It is also possible to dig deeper into the content by using 'Explore on page' and 'Explore more'.
Regarding SGE while browsing, Google says, ``Summaries of paid articles are not provided, and the summaries published by SGE while browsing are limited to articles published for free on the web.''
At the time of article creation, SGE and new features under test are available only to US users participating in Search Labs. The start date of use in Japan is undecided.
