Google's AI-powered summary updated to Gemini 2.0 to tackle tougher tasks

In May 2024, Google implemented the 'AI Overview ' feature, which allows users to search for any information on the Internet, and from August 2024, it will also support Japanese. On March 5, 2025, Google announced that this 'AI Overview' has been updated to Gemini 2.0 .

The 'AI Summary' feature, implemented in May 2024, allows users to quickly find information and explore various information on the Internet. Google also announced that it has begun testing a new AI search feature called 'AI Mode,' which is an extension of 'AI Overview' that features more advanced reasoning, thinking, and multimodal capabilities.

At the time of writing, the Gemini 2.0 updated 'AI Overview' is available only in the U.S. Also, the 'AI Mode' is only available to Google One AI Premium Plan subscribers who live in the U.S.
