The 'AI Overview' feature, implemented in May 2024, allows users to quickly find information and explore any information on the internet. For example, if a user searches for 'how to remove wrinkles from clothes,' they will see an AI-generated explanation of how to remove wrinkles. This 'AI Overview' feature will be available in Japanese in August 2024.

According to Google, a high percentage of users who use the AI summary feature are satisfied with the search results, so Google has announced that it will introduce ads to the AI summary.

Specifically, the sales pages of products labeled 'Sponsored' will be displayed in the summary. Google says, 'Relevant ads will be displayed in the AI summary, so you can quickly and easily find the perfect product without having to search again to find the right product.'

The addition of ads to summaries using AI has been tested since May 2024, when it was first implemented, and with this announcement it has now been officially introduced.
