Mouse and trackpad utility 'LinearMouse' for free & open source Mac

Both Windows and Mac use a mouse as their primary input device, and Windows users often find themselves baffled by the vastly different feel of using a Mac. ' LinearMouse ', which has been developed as an open source, is a mouse utility for macOS that allows you to freely set the scroll direction, cursor speed, etc., so it is recommended for people who are unfamiliar with the Mac operating system.

LinearMouse is distributed on the above site, and you can download the disk image by clicking 'Download'.

Click 'Allow'.

Double-click the downloaded 'LinearMouse.dmg' to mount it, and drag and drop LinearMouse.app to the application folder to install it.

Click 'Open'.

LinearMouse looks like this. 'Scroll' allows you to set the mouse scroll. Vertical scrolls vertically and Horizontal scrolls horizontally, and each can be set separately. On macOS, when you scroll the mouse forward, the screen goes up, and when you scroll it backwards, the screen goes down. If you turn on the 'reverse scrolling' switch, the scrolling direction of the mouse and the direction of the screen flow will be reversed, which is the same as the Windows default setting.

In 'pointers' you can disable 'pointer acceleration'. 'Pointer acceleration' is a function that makes the pointer (cursor) move faster when you move the mouse or touchpad quickly. Disabling pointer acceleration keeps the pointer speed constant no matter how fast you move your mouse or touchpad, allowing for more careful and precise manipulation.

In 'Buttons', if you are using a mouse with side buttons on your Mac, you can enable back and forward operations with the side buttons.

Under 'General', you can enable LinearMouse to start automatically by turning on 'Auto start at login'. You can also turn on Bypass events from other applications to prevent settings from third-party input device management tools such as

Logi Option+ from overriding LinearMouse settings.

The LinearMouse source code is hosted on GitHub.
