An associate's degree is a degree equivalent to a four-year university or two-year community college degree and is typically completed in two years. Skipping grades is more common in America than in Japan, but getting five associate degrees at just 12 years old is amazing, and various media outlets have covered Ms. Han and her mother.
You can watch an interview with Mr. Han and his mother in the YouTube video below.

This boy who is answering the interview is Mr. Han, who graduated from Fullerton College with five associate degrees at the age of 12. Ms. Han's associate's degrees cover a wide range of subjects, including history, social science, social behavior and personal development, art and human expression, and science and mathematics.
Mr. Han has been curious and fond of studying since he was young, and in 2019 when he was in the second grade of elementary school, he was bored with the public school curriculum. Mr. Song Choi, a mother who has worked as a tutor for over 20 years, decided to let his son Han go to the local Fullerton College.
A classmate at Fullerton College often asks Mr. Han, 'How old are you and why are you here?' In response to this question, Mr. Han said, 'I am 12 years old and I am taking a class with you.'
Mr. Han seems to have been a premature baby born 27 weeks earlier than planned, and he seems to have weighed less than 2 pounds (about 900 g) when he was born. However, after that, he grew up surprisingly well, and besides studying, he is a normal boy who likes things like basketball and archery.
Also, he seems to have traveled to 23 countries so far with his family, and his favorite is Egypt with the Great Pyramid of Giza.
Mr. Choi, his mother, does not forget that Mr. Han is still a child and often tells him to stop studying and relax.
In an interview, Mr. Han commented, 'I study a lot so that I can do various things before playing.'
Mr. Han plans to continue attending Fullerton College for another year to acquire an associate's degree in autonomous system development, and if he is ready to transfer to university, he will enter Stanford University or Massachusetts Institute of Technology and obtain a bachelor's degree. It seems that he is thinking.
In addition to studying, he is also a candidate for
