The original Oculus Quest is a VR device that can be played on its own without being connected to a PC. It became a hot topic as a device that allows you to easily experience VR. In 2021, the successor model Oculus Quest 2 (Meta Quest 2) will appear.

Also, on the online bulletin board site Reddit, an email message announcing the end of support for the original Quest sent by Meta to users has been posted.
According to the text of the email, no new features will be released to the original Quest. The original Quest itself can still be used, but the function 'Create or Join a Party' will no longer be available. Also, after March 5, 2023, you will not be able to access the social functions of the Metaverse 'Meta Horizon Home' released by Meta. However, bug fixes and security patches will be released until 2024.
According to the IT news site The Verge, in August 2022, the VR battle royal game ' Population: One ' could no longer be played on the original Quest, and there were already signs of the end of support for the original Quest. Either Meta has cut thousands of jobs so much that they can no longer afford to devote the budget and manpower to supporting older VR devices, or they have ended development support for the Qualcomm Snapdoragon 835 that powers the original Quest. The Verge expects this to be the reason.
