Released on August 31, 2022, OBS 28.0 adds new features such as support for encoding in HEVC format and high dynamic range (HDR) with NVIDIA Broadcast.

NVIDIA is also working with Google to bring HEVC and HDR content to YouTube using NVIDIA Encoder (NVENC) , dedicated hardware on GeForce RTX GPUs that handles video encoding without taking resources away from games. I made it clear that I made live streaming possible.

Together with the virtual background, echo removal, noise removal, etc. that have appeared before, it will flexibly support various distribution software such as OBS. The following article introduces what noise removal, one of the functions, is like.

HEVC support in OBS 28.0 improves video compression by 15%. This will allow users to stream live in higher quality to platforms such as YouTube. In addition, the ability to record and distribute HDR has dramatically improved vividness and quality.

Until now, recording 10-bit or 12-bit HDR content at 8-bit would result in blown-out highlights, so users had to turn off HDR for the content. However, with this update, users can record and deliver in SDR or full HDR with HDR turned on.

NVIDIA said, ``Many users will benefit from this OBS update as HDR displays are becoming more common and there is also a virtual HDR conversion tool 'Auto HDR' in Windows 11. Turning on HDR in Windows 11 , you can enjoy the game and stream at the same time with stunning visual fidelity.'
