Yen and ordinary income decreased 20.6% year-on-year to 236.2 billion yen, and quarterly net income decreased 19.4% year-on-year to 171.8 billion yen.

The breakdown of sales is as follows: sales of game consoles decreased 19.5% year-on-year to 597.4 billion yen, mobile / IP-related revenue decreased 4.6% year-on-year to 25.5 billion yen, and others decreased year-on-year. This is an increase of 47.2% to 1.3 billion yen. The sales ratio by region is 21.7% in Japan, 43.7% in the Americas, 24.1% in Europe, and 10.5% in other regions.

Nintendo Switch sales in the same period decreased by 34.0% year-on-year to 8.28 million units, of which Nintendo Switch was 6.45 million units and Nintendo Switch Lite was 1.82 million units. In addition, the number of software sold in the same period decreased by 6.3% from the same period of the previous year to 93.89 million units. There were 18 million-seller titles in the same period, of which 14 were Nintendo titles. The highest sales volume was 3.6 million for The

Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD, followed by Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with 3.34 million. This makes Mario Kart 8 Deluxe the best-selling title in the Mario Kart series. While the number of Nintendo Switch sales is declining, the number of software sold has hardly decreased, so it can be seen that many users already have Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo cites a global shortage of semiconductors as the main reason for the significant year-on-year decline in Nintendo Switch sales. In addition, Nintendo said, 'Regarding business risks, the impact of the new coronavirus infection and the impact of the global tight supply and demand of semiconductor parts, etc. remain uncertain, and there is a possibility that production and shipment will continue to be hindered. There are unforeseen risks, such as the above, but we will continue to operate our business while taking necessary measures. '

Digital sales decreased 15.9% year-on-year to 144.2 billion yen, and digital sales accounted for 45.1% of total game software sales. In the same period, not only sales of Nintendo Switch Online were steadily increasing, but also sales of download-only software, which does not sell packaged versions including indie titles, seemed to be strong.

As a result, the number of Nintendo Switch sales has reached 92.87 million units, and the cumulative number of game software sold has exceeded 681 million units. The cumulative sales volume of the Wii, which sold the most among Nintendo game consoles, is 101.63 million units, so the Nintendo Switch will soon catch up with the sales volume of the Wii.
