Known as the

best-selling game in the world, 'Minecraft ' can be played not only by one person, but also by connecting to a server, multiplayer can be played while sharing one world among multiple people. It is reported that programmer Turtius succeeded in building such a Minecraft server on a 'commercially available SLR camera'.

You can see the actual construction of the Minecraft server on the EOS Kiss X9 in the following movie.

Tuirtius modified the Canon EOS Kiss X9 DSLR camera. When Turtius was trying to reverse engineer Canon's network processor, he came up with the idea, 'Isn't it possible to turn the camera into a Minecraft server?'

Only the server is running on the EOS Kiss X9, the client is not running. The LCD panel of the EOS Kiss X9 shows the screen of a PC connected to the same LAN as the EOS Kiss X9. In addition, it seems that

Avrcraft optimized for 8-bit devices is used for Minecraft's server software.

From the Minecraft client started on the PC, enter the local IP address of the server and try to access the server started on the EOS Kiss X9.

I found the server safely.

On the EOS Kiss X9's LCD display, the server log is displayed in green text on the PC screen, and the message 'Turtius has joined the game!' Is displayed from the client.

The server seems to be working fine without any errors.

Also, the client side was able to play Minecraft without any problems.

According to Turtius, it is not possible to take pictures or movies with the Minecraft server upright, and it may crash. If the EOS Kiss X9's processor were a bit more powerful, it would be free to customize the terrain, Turtius said.

Turtius has developed an add-on that can run Avrcraft on the EOS Kiss X9 for the 'Magic Lantern, ' an unofficial firmware extension for the Canon EOS series. The source code is available on GitHub.

However, Turtius said, 'This add-on can break the camera, so I don't recommend installing it without knowing what you're doing,' he said. Is not responsible.
