'Bread Rondo' play review where a magical girl confronts a curse with a sword and magic while baking bread

The competitive card game ' Bread Rondo

', which is a collaboration between Domina Games ' card game ' Blade Rondo ' series and MAGI 's board game ' Magical ☆ Bakery ', was released on April 22, 2021. Based on the rules of Blade Rondo, he realized the concept of 'baking bread while fighting', so I actually played with it.

Bread Rondo

The Bread Rondo package looks like this. 'A certain country in a certain world where magic rules everything. You were the one who ran the best bakery in the city, but you inadvertently called a forbidden magic book and were trapped in the dream world. So, what is drawn on the package is Corone, an apprentice magical girl who works at a bakery and is the main character of 'Magical ☆ Bakery'.

The contents are a rule manual, two parameter boards, and 14 cardboard chips.

There are 44 cards, 1 6-sided die, 4 red stones, and 2 red, green, and blue 10-sided dice for parameter display.

There are four types of cards: sword card, pan card, breathing method card, and enemy card for solo play.

The design on the back of the Bread Rondo sword card (right) is different from the conventional Blade Rondo series sword card (left).

The basic rules of Bread Rondo are

almost the same as Blade Rondo , those who attack with the card at the cost of the voltage that rises every turn while increasing the attack power and defense power, and set the opponent's HP to 0 first Will be the victory. However, Bread Rondo is characterized by the addition of its own rule of 'baking bread'.

First, place red, green, and blue 10-sided dies on the parameter boards 'ATTACK', 'VOLTAGE', and 'DEFENCE', respectively, with the 0's eye facing up. In addition, place a stone on the '10' of the life gauge at the bottom of the board, and deal one 'heating method' and one 'protection method' card to each player.

Then shuffle the eight bread cards face down and distribute one to each player with the face down. A square is written on the back of the bread card, and a stone is placed on the '0' square at the bottom left.

Set the 14 heart chips on the side of the field with the rest of the bread cards.

Shuffle 24 sword cards and deal 10 to each player. The player chooses 5 cards from 10 cards. The remaining 5 cards will not be used, so remove them from the game. Since the original Blade Rondo had 7 cards in hand, it can be said that Bread Rondo is more important to build a hand.

Decide the first attack and the second attack by an appropriate method. The second attack will receive a 'beating method' card.

In addition, the second attack sets the attack power to 1 and advances the stone of the pan card by one. Now you are ready.

The active player first increases the voltage die roll by one.

Next, advance one stone on the bread card and receive one true chip.

Then roll the 6-sided die. This time I got a '6'.

The active player chooses either 'Advance the stones on the pan card by the number of rolls on the 6-sided die' or 'Receive another additional Magokoro chip'. This time, I decided not to receive the chips, but to advance the stone by 6 squares.

After processing the bread card, use your hand or breathing card. However, the total cost value in the upper left corner of the card is limited to the voltage roll. The voltage increases by 1 each turn, so you will be able to use powerful cards with high cost as the game progresses.

For example, on the 4th turn, the voltage is 4. The total cost is 4 for the cost 1 'heating method', the cost 1 'silver puppeteer Marie', and the cost 2 'secret key unlocker Croix'.

In addition, magic attacks can be attacked ignoring the defense power of the opponent, but basically the damage is small. In the physical attack, the attack power that can be increased by 1 by the 'heating method' hits the opponent as it is, but the damage is offset by the defense power of the opponent. Therefore, it is necessary to properly use magic attack and physical attack while looking at the defense power of the opponent.

Also, if you use a card that says 'LIMITED', you should discard it. In other words, it can only be used once in one game.

Also, when the stone of the bread card arrives at the goal 'Baked!' Mass, 'the bread is baked wonderfully' ...

Turn the bread card over. Pancards have a variety of effects that help players. For example, the following 'muffins' can activate either '2 damage magic attack' or '2 life recovery'. In addition, since the bread card is distributed face down, the player does not know what kind of bread he is baking until the bread is baked.

Also, if you have more than the specified number of chips when the bread is baked, you can rotate the bread card 90 degrees and get a stronger effect because 'it was a great success in baking the bread'. increase. In the case of 'Muffin', if you have 7 or more true chips, you can activate either '4 damage magic attack' or '5 life recovery'. However, most of the bread cards are discarded once they are used, so it is strategically important to determine where to use them.

The big attraction of bread cards is that the cost is 0. If you eat mogumogu, your life will be restored, so if you use it when your life becomes severe, you can get a lifetime of nine deaths.

If you are steadily collecting chips, you will be able to turn over the unfavorable battle situation with a powerful attack.

Finally, the card issued when the voltage exceeds 6 is the card of 'Ann, the Wizard of God Speed' that gives a magical attack equal to the opponent's current life. Magic attacks ignore defense and the damage is equal to life ...

When this card is issued, your physical strength becomes 0 and you lose.

However, if you turn down the response card 'Pure White Queen Coroneria' just before this, you can avoid a blow to death in response to Anne's attack. 'Ann, the Wizard of God Speed' is almost a winning card if you put it out, but since it is also a LIMITED card, you can only use it once. When the voltage reaches 6, there is also a strategy to connect one skin of the neck with a response card, thinking that 'the opponent may issue'Ann, the magician of God speed ...'.

Bread Rondo's two-player battle is a simple rule that even beginners can easily understand, as one game can be played in about 15 to 20 minutes. The basic rule is based on the original Blade Rondo, but the number of cards is reduced, the effect of the cards is different, and there is also a bread card, so the gameplay of Bread Rondo is quite different from the original Blade Rondo. I got a different impression. Not only the battle between offensive power and defensive power, but also 'how to bake bread quickly and use it for attack and recovery' is important, and it is exactly the game of 'baking bread while fighting'.

Bread Rondo also has a solo play mode. In this battle, 'I can't afford to bake bread in the oven,' so I don't use bread cards.

The opponent in solo play mode is an enemy card, and the written action is automatically processed. For example, the first thug, Marie, the Silver Puppet Master, makes a magical attack for 1 damage each turn.

There are 5 enemy cards in all, and if you win 5 times in a row, the player wins. Every time you defeat an enemy, your attack power, voltage, defense power, and hand will be restored, but your physical strength will remain the same. Therefore, it is quite difficult to defeat 5 enemies in a row. In addition, powerful enemy cards such as 'Lunatic' and 'Ultimate' are also available, so if you are familiar with your skills, please try it.

Blade Rond can be purchased on Amazon for 2970 yen including tax.
