A system 'Bucket Brigade Singing' for multiple people to sing songs at the same time on a web browser is under development
As a result of calls for maintaining social distance in countries around the world, including Japan, in order to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, it has become difficult for a large number of people to gather in one place and sing together. However, engineer Jeff Kaufman has developed a web app, Bucket Brigade Singing, for singing songs with others over the Internet.
Bucket Brigade Singing
Bucket Brigade Singing allows participants to share the automatically assigned email address and create an instance in Google Calendar to synchronize with multiple people. First of all, you will be asked if you are using headphones. Click 'No' this time.
You will be asked if you have wired headphones available, so click 'No'.
It is possible to use Bucket Brigade Singing without headphones, but it is said that noise will be reduced if headphones are used. Click 'Get Started'.
Set the name and input device and click 'Start' to start the session.
The delay is measured regularly on the screen. The delay will change over time, but it may remain almost zero at 5ms, so there's nothing wrong with singing along.
Bucket Brigade Singing will only work with Blink- based browsers such as Chrome and Opera. According to Kaufman, Bucket Brigade Singing isn't a system that works by minimizing delays, but by 'making delays absolutely predictable and adapting to them.'
