microSD Express will be offered in various capacities such as microSDHC Express, microSDXC Express, microSDUC Express etc.

microSD Express adopts standard PCIe 3.1 specification and NVMe Rev.1.3 specification for the second row of pins. Since the power consumption of PCIe is suppressed by the L1 substate, it is expected that microSD Express can reduce energy consumption as compared with conventional microSD Express.

System developers said that new options such as path mastering, multi-queue and host memory buffers are now available through the adoption of PCie and NVMe. It also maintains compatibility with traditional microSD cards.
