Western Digital's 8TB SD card is said to be UHS-I compliant, but the specific transfer speed has not been disclosed.
Western Digital is also exhibiting a 128TB eSSD (enterprise SSD) at FMS2024. This is a QLC (quad-level cell) SSD that uses a technology called ' BiCS FLASH 8th Generation (BiCS8),' and is intended for use in data centers and large-scale AI processing environments, so its capacity of 128TB is quite large for an SSD.
In addition, at the Western Digital booth at FMS24, two types of 16TB SSDs were exhibited. One is the world's first portable SSD with a capacity of 16TB, and the other is a stationary 16TB SSD designed to be built into a desktop PC. Both are in the proof-of-concept stage, and it will be a while before they are released to the market, but since they have the same capacity as HDDs but can achieve much faster data transfer speeds and lower latency than HDDs, they are expected to be released as products for professionals in the creative industry.
In addition, Western Digital has announced automotive SSDs such as the Western Digital AT EN610 NVMe SSD and the Western Digital iNAND AT EU752, the RapidFlex Interposer which converts PCIe SSD signals to Ethernet, allowing PCIe eSSDs to be used in Ethernet switched or PCIe switched systems, and the 0TS2531 Ultrastar DC SN861 NVMe SSD, a PCIe Gen5 NVMe SSD that uses BiCS8 technology.
In addition, the world's first 4TB SD card, the 4TB SanDisk Extreme PRO SDUC UHS-I Memory Card, was exhibited at the local venue.
