Legendary American bike brand "Indian" revives, first landed in Japan
Along with Harley Davidson, "Indian" was a bike brand representing America. Although it temporarily flourished as the world's largest motorcycle company, the company disbanded in 1959 from the poor management, it disappeared from history.
After nearly 50 years since then, it revived as a newborn Indian motorcycle company in 2004,Tokyo Motorcycle Show 2010At the booth of the White House Co., Ltd., which is the agency of Japan, a memorable "Chief" model was exhibited.
Details are below.
Booth of White House Co., Ltd.
This is a remake model to commemorate "Chief". Several variations with custom parts are prepared, but this is the basic "Chief Classic".
And a tank emblem and engine guard were added "Chief Vintage".
Thoroughly made "Made in USA" stuck to making, almost all parts made in the USA. It seems that plating is also a thick thing to be done at a factory in the USA.
The Brempo brake caliper is also plated and is considered to not disturb the vintage flavor.
Fender mascot is not made of acrylic but made of glass with a sense of quality.
Parts such as engine cylinders and exhaust pipes are thoroughly plated. By the way it has become a rigid mount mounted to touch the frame directly, it seems that you can enjoy the feeling of the beating of the engine.
Power unit is "Power Plus 105" 1720 cc · 45 degree V type 2 cylinder engine. Fuel supply is electronic fuel injection type.
In addition to the three basic colors, there are six kinds of combinations of two colors, total of nine color variations are prepared. This is "Indian Red + Ivory Cream"
This is "Chief Roadmaster".
A rear seat with a back rest is equipped as standard, and a model conscious of long distance traveling.
The price which is worrisome is this. Although it enters a high class as a motorcycle, it is not reasonable to say that it is reasonable if you buy a base car and consider the cost of custom.
In the revival of this time, from around 2004 we began organizing trademark rights of various patents and trademarks, and since 2005 we have taken a thorough stance that 22 people will develop this Chief over 3 years.
Currently it is only handling this "Chief" one model, but in the future it was that we want to work on production of various models such as hot rod model and dirt tracker.
